The League of Women Voters, a nonpartisan political organization, encourages informed and active participation in government, works to increase understanding of major public policy issues, and influences public policy through education and advocacy.
The League of Women Voters works to engage citizens in democracy. To that end, we register voters and we publish a free non-partisan voters guide, which we make available to local libraries and senior centers. Through our partnership with ThinkVoting and SA2020, we brought The Voting App to San Antonio as a way to merge technology with civics to attract younger voters to the May elections. We host and moderate Meet The Candidates forums throughout the county so that citizens have a chance to hear first-hand where candidates stand on important issues. Our work is to help voters have the tools they need to make informed decisions at the polls, and to advocate for their rights as voters. The League of Women’s Voters moves the SA2020 needle in civic engagement, working toward promoting the kind of civic involvement that is essential to a vital community.
