Boy With a Ball exists to build teams who reach young people and their families and equip them to be impactful leaders in their communities through mentoring and small groups.
Boy With a Ball was founded in San Antonio, Texas in 2001 as an innovative faith-based youth development organization started by a combination of educators, professionals, clergy, former gang members and people who had personal experience with the problems that compel young people to leave home, leave school, commit crimes and engage in high-risk behaviors. Boy With a Ball connects youth to their families, peers, teachers, and the idea of an amazing future. Through combining UTSA's Dr. Michael Karcher's Cross-Age Mentoring Program on connectedness and BWAB's model of community outreach and development, we have access to families and neighborhoods that would otherwise go unreached. Boy with a Ball moves the SA2020 needle to achieve social connectedness by providing opportunity through forming dynamic and sustainable communities for teens.
